Cameron County meets on SpaceX incentives

BROWNSVILLE — Cameron County Commissioners Court took no action during Monday’s special meeting in which it discussed business and incentives that would be offered to SpaceX if it decides to build a rocket launch site here.

The Commissioners Court met several hours in executive session before announcing in open session that it acknowledged what was presented to them in executive session.

On Monday, it was announced that Space Exploration Technologies would build a launch pad near Boca Chica Beach. The building of this site is set to generate $51 million annually in salaries and create between 300 and 400 jobs.
